Chicago, USA-based Wilson Sporting Goods Co., is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high performance sports equipment, apparel, and accessories. It was a subsidiary of the Finnish group Amer Sports between 1989 and 2019, having recently been acquired by the Chinese giant Anta Sports. Recognized by the equipments produced for sports such as Tennis, Golf or Baseball, the image of the North American brand is closely linked to the production of high performance balls for Basketball, Volleyball or American Football.
Founded in 1913 in New York, the company initially dedicated itself to the production of rackets, before dedicating to the creation of balls for various sports, including basketball. And in the early days of the NBA, in 1946, it was Wilson who produced the league's first official basketball, starting a partnership that would continue for 37 years. After an interruption of about three decades, Wilson reached an agreement with the most famous basketball league in the world and from the 2021/22 season it will be once again the official NBA game ball. It should be noted that Wilson is currently the provider of the Global Game Basketball of FIBA 3x3, the official Game Basketball of the NBL of Australia, the official Game Basketball of the NCAA, and the official Game Basketball of the Basketball Champions League in Europe.
